Bhimnidhi Tiwari was born on November 1911 to Lalnidhi Tiwari and Nanda Kumari Tiwari. Birth of the son pleased Lalnidhi so much that he organized a great drama, Indrasavha. Bhimnidhi grew up in a very traditional home, but when he turned seven, his mother died. One of his poems, "Dagbatti," depicts for the reader the night his mother was burned and how the fire devoured her.
When Bhimnidhi's father died, he was 27 and
had to take care of his family. He began governmental service, continuing it
for 32 years from the Ministry of Education, later as an assistant secretary.
In 1938, he established Nepal Sahitya Press, and in 1949, Nepal Natak Sangh was
established to uplift Nepalese drama and literature.
Bhimnidhi represented Nepal in the seminar
about copyright and accompanied King Mahendra in his royal visit. He visited
Russia, London, Rome, and Delhi. His father inspired him to write, and he worked
hard to enrich Nepalese drama.
Bhimnidhi wrote much work such as
Sahanshila Sushila, Adarsha Jiwan, and Indradhanus. He also wrote short
stories, novels, poems, and many others. He believed in social reform and wrote
against smoking, drinking, and gambling. He received awards such as
"Yasashvisav" and the Madan Puraskar in 1970. He died in 1956 and
