Renowned poet and lyricist Bhim Birag,
popularly known as Bhim Bahadur Maharjan was born upon first month 28, 1935, in
Maisthan, Birgunj. He had written many important poems and songs in Nepali.
Some of his popular works are 'Dukheko Indreni', what is a collection of

Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 4th class in 2027 BS for his input to Nepali music and
writings.
He received many awards for his contributions to Nepali
music and writings, comprising the Chinnalata Puraskar in 2043 BS, the Nepal
Rastriya Prativa Puraskar in 2056 BS, and the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 4th
class in 2027 BS.
Bhim Birag passed away upon March 3, 2012, at the age of 78
